Far as I remember, "way back when" a grey war mare was speared quite
badly in the shoulder during battle, but still carried her
injured/unconscious owner home, where he was treated and cared for. When
the mare was bred, she had a grey foal with a red splotch on her shoulder
in the exact place mom was injured. All horses with this red splotch on
their shoulder can trace their lines to this war mare.
