When I lived in California we fed hay cubes alot, the best ones were steamed
but hard to get ahold of-usually an oat/alfalfa mix-others use binders like
bentonite(sp?)which is clay and I had one mare colic with that..vet said
was not uncommon. I usually fed 1-2 large scoops of cubes two to three
times per day..but I did not have any fat piggies at the time so would feed
as much as they would clean up in a reasonable amount of time(like hay
flakes) and they also got a grain ration etc. Hopes this helps-Penelope
