Yep, my trailer is a 77 Miley extra tall extra wide TB that's amazingly in
good shape. It's got some cancer now, but what trailer doesn't at this age.
Can't wait to order the new trailer. Soon. Still working on the
financial aspects. Looks like once I order it it still won't be in
production til July.

Just a thought. (Gawd - I apologize in advance for philosophizing!) I think
99% of good horsemanship is just common sense, and being open minded to
trying different things if something doesn't work. Don't get frantic,
frustrated, or ticked. Just take a breath, say well, that didn't work... and
try something else. When I started hauling like this (about 8 yrs ago) many
of my friends were appalled. How can I unload with the center post since the
horse will probably be at an angle, what if the horse falls because there
isn't anything to brace on, it's just not safe etc. I argued my points, and
wow - look how popular slant load trailers are now. Charlie knows that when
I open the left back door & pull on his tail over he steps over then steps
back. Just as he reaches the drop I pat his butt and say 'feet' and he
starts reaching for the drop down. No fuss, no muss, simple stuff Maynard.

BTW - enjoy conversing with you. I meet many guys that are weekend cowboys,
not interested in horses or horsemanship. Mainly interested in picking up
girls because there are 20 females to every male. Nice odds. <g> Also meet
so many women that think horses are their missing children or overgrown dogs.
They are the worst, and dangerous. They'll ride a 1 mile loop maybe 3 times
a week, grain the heck out of the horses and wonder why they are acting up.
Usually accidents waiting for a place to happen. I find trainers make a
fortune off these. <g> Then there are the hell bent for leather endurance
maniacs where the horse is just a vehicle to their high & glory. I've been
lucky in finding a select set of friends that are a lot like me,
unfortunately they are all in another county but we still keep in touch email
wise and ride together on occasion. I basically always ride alone. All my
stable mates ride maybe 15 minutes in the arena, or would last for maybe 3
miles at a walk. Personally, riding equates with sanity, I love
conditioning, love camping with the horse, & don't baby but take good care of
my horse. I think Charlie and I get along so well because we both understand
and respect each other. Don't know if I'd go so far as to say he loves me.
<g>

Anyway - enough rambling. Gotta get back to work. Hoping to get out of this
place early tonight and get a quick loop in before dark. Riding, Home
Improvements, and Caroline in the City tonight! Great night. Don't watch TV
most nights, usually too busy. Love Tues nights though. Class tomorrow
night but got my homework (budget & schedule analysis - yuck) and midterm
done. Yeah - veg night.

Have a great day!

Mardi - aka 'Gabby' or as friends call me "Martha" (as in Stewart)... <g>
