Hi Shannon -
RE: trailers

We have a 91 Ponderosa steel stock-type gooseneck with a 3' dressing room.
Ponderosa is a low-end ($-wise) trailer, but I don't have any complaints
at all about how it has held up. Very little rust (really just at the
welds, just surface stuff). We have done everything but downright
abused this trailer. It has sat outside for 6 years, gets hosed down
every once in a while, but I confess it has only had a coat of wax once.
We did not caulk any seams (if we had done that there would not even be
the surface rust along the seams). It hasn't ever leaked. It pulls like
a dream.

We have been in the market for a new (or used) trailer for the past 2 years,
since my husband has become an active rider and camper, we needed a larger
dressing room. After looking at untold numbers of used trailers, we came
to the conclusion that Ponderosa is indeed a well-built trailer for the $.
A good starter trailer for us that would last many more years. A lot of
the used trailers we looked at (and a lot that were much higher price range)
had a lot of rust.

We decided to order a new trailer as we just couldn't find what we wanted used.
This has been a 2 year process, we looked at a lot of major brand trailers,
Sundowner, Kieffer-built, Featherlite, Valley, Diamond D, the list goes on and
on.

We kept coming back to Merhow. We really were impressed with the way they
put a trailer together. There are a lot of extra touches to make the trailer
more comfortable for the horses. We ended up ordering their new Equistar
(aluminum-skin
trailer). Won't have it for about 3 more weeks (we are having modest living
quarters). BTW it is a 2 horse slant with rear tack (swings out, also can fold
flat against the inside of the trailer - useful for me as I also haul a mini
with
cart) The dressing room is 5' short wall (9'10" long wall).

Our little Ponderosa will be for sale as soon as we get our new trailer....;*)
