Wow! It's great that you guys thought my husband is cute! Thanks! I'll
have to tell him, 'cause he thinks I only think Gabe is the cute one!
Doug (hubby) is also the sweetest, kindest person in the world, and is
becoming quite the crew person! He had drinks and snacks and sponges and
hay and carrots all ready at the vets every time I came in! He's
fantastic--although not a horse person--he understands how much this
means to me!

Gabe did the best ever on this, his third 50 completion. He finally got
the hint to drink at every opportunity! I couldn't beleive it! He never
drank before. And he ate constantly. I waited a holds longer just 'cause
I didn't want to tear him away from his food! I am extremely happy with
his almost all A's except one B on final gut sounds...but I think that
was just that particular vet. Gabe also came in to holds at criteria
(60) or within 2-3 minutes! His gate was solid, even though 6 weeks ago
at Honey Lake 50, he was slightly off at the end.

This ride really made my decision to keep trying this crazy sport. The
Rescue Remedy you all told me about really worked good for trailering,
but not so good for the crazy attitude at the start of the ride. I
started 15 minutes behind, but Gabe was too smart for that and knew
there were horses ahead that he had to catch up to. I spent the first
two hours just constantly getting off and walking because I didn't want
to fight with him. Any advice about a different kind of calmer? Once he
is focused, he does wonderfully. He has tons of energy!

Ride time was long...I think 8:54. ...not sure. 74th place out of 91
starters. Can't remember how many finished. But if I can get Gabe to not
fight me so we can spend that energy on forward motion instead of up and
down motion....he could really do well.

Loved the ride...not the rocks...love the views....not the flies! Love
the wild waves on the beach at Washoe Lake...looked like the ocean!
(Gabe is terrified of waves!)

Thanks to everyone at Ride Camp for helping me get into this sport...it
is addicting!

Deanne.....tired and sore from running all the downhills....Gabe @ 150
miles!
