In a message dated 97-05-02 15:15:44 EDT, you write:

<< Why can't a trailer be more like a car??>>

It can, it can. If Sundowner, Trails West, Logan, etc., could count on a
market as large as cars, you can bet the quality would go up and price down
as competition became a bigger issue.

<<Maybe we should demand government intervention, as the marketplace hasn't
responded. >>

The marketplace HAS responded--most of us own trailers, right? So what's the
message to the manufacturers? We'll buy trailers no matter how overpriced
and shoddy they may be. By "we," of course, I mean horse owners in general.
Not singling out endurance riders.

If safety is an issue, then government should intervene. Doors and other
parts falling off in transit is extremely hazardous to the public and maybe
should be reported to the Highway Patrol.
