I always tie. I did have a horse break his jaw once and had to trailer
him to a clinic loose in a stock trailer. However, just a couple of
weeks ago I had a horse in my trailer on a stretch tie turn way around
and shove his head thru a closed window, sliced up his forehead.
Another time I loaded one horse, put up the butt bar and went to get
another horse. I didn't tie the first one immediately and when I came
back he had turned his head and neck around and wedged it against the
part of the divider near his shoulder where the divider comes up high.
He was stuck so we had to remove the divider from the trailer. I've
had my share of weird one's.

I do favor the stretch tie's after having a horse slip and sit down in
someone else's trailer. He jerked his neck very badly and was sore for
a long time. The stretch ties give and prevent panicing. However I do
have solid ties in the trailer too for the biters.

What is the consensus on tying the horse in the trailer? I always
thought that you should tie your horse in a trailer, but Joe brought up
a good point. RideCampers????
