another Sundowner Trailer Problem

I have a 2 horse straight load Sundowner...new last year. And not a cheap one
I might add! Anyway, I had my horse (while on a "training" trailer ride at the
trainers), pop out of the escape door going down the road. The trainer said
her whole front end was out, and had her head not been tied, she too would
have been out the door. As it turned out that was the way she came out when he
finally stopped the trailer.

She came out because she bumped the knob that protrudes (right at shoulder
level) on the escape door.

This is a big knob that sticks in about 2".

You think on a trailer that is suppose to be of pretty good quality, and has
(at least I thought) a good reputation...they would have put a recessed door
handle on the inside.

Needless to say, I have now removed the big black knob. But I will go check my
door hinges too!
