ride reports and perceptions

Well, apparently I did not put enough smiley faces in my report about
Chicken Chase or something as it was seen as negative by many and that was
NOT my intention.....It seems that one cannot write about an experience
w/out someone saying "oh yeah, well it wasn't that way for me" or "you
think that was bad - it was much worse at this ride" - that's fine - I
wasn't writing about anyone else or any other ride - I was writing about
*me* on *this* ride only:-)).

If anyone else wishes to post another side about any ride - please do - if
what I am saying is so untrue or horribly off-base then by all means _speak
up_! This is a public forum and I am by no means the definitive voice about
a ride (or anything else for that matter <g>). I am only one rider who
happens to enjoy writing. I write these posts so others can read at least
one view (mine) about a ride - if you have another view you are free to post
it as well. A report like this is, by definition, subjective - I have given
my thoughts - you can give yours, too.

I did not write that post to go out of my way to malign the Chicken Chase
ride - I do one after almost every ride - Chicken Chase did not get special
treatment - check the archives for my other "reports".

There were several postive points in my post in addition to my complaining
about the mud :-)) but those of you nailing me offline seemed to not see those.

I didn't get this much grief from my Old Dominion post and *that* was a
negative report :-)

*For the record*, I thought the ride was well run, apparently CRIs were done
for the front runners (tho that was not my experience as a
back-of-the-packer and that's what I was writing about, remember), the
trail was well-marked, the food was good, there was an awards dinner (I just
missed it, which, btw, I *did* state in my original post may have been the
case), and the exceptional number of riders that showed up were handled
extremely well - including at the second vet check. (My point there was that
mgmt had made a real effort to stagger us at the start so a traffic
jam_wouldn't_ happen but we (the riders) managed to pile in together anyway
- *not* that the check was poorly run. With 100 or so riders I KNOW there
are going to be some waits.)

I would go back again - if I am allowed to enter, that is :-)).

Enough defending.....

I publicly apologize if my report came across to management as negative or
as a complaint.

Please direct any comments to me directly so as to keep further discussion
off the list.

Tina - truly amazed (like Susan was earlier) at the response to this report
