Okay, people, one quick question. I'm not one for experimentation -
especially with my horse. Aspirin has always been my choice as an
anti-inflammatory, and I use it whenever my mare tweaks herself and gets
swollen. However, lately she always seems to be puffy in her ankles and
one hock. I've done everything from slacking off on the intensity of
exercise to laying her off entirely (hand walks daily to get her out of
her stall, but no turn-outs), and the swelling just never seems to quite
go away. Right now one hock is very puffy (nothing in the other one) and
I'm assuming she hurt herself during the night. The ankle on that side
is also puffier than usual and puffier than the other one. I'm using
puffy as opposed to swollen because it looks more like giant wind puffs
instead of a sprain. Anyway, after reading all this stuff on glucosamine
and chondroitin sulfate I've decided that as a preventative measure I'm
going to start Taffy (I know, I hate that name too) on a product called
Arthrisoothe (contains chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine HCL, dextrose,
yucca schidigera, boswellia, vitamin C and vitamin E). My one simple
question is probably pretty stupid (but I suppose there are no stupid
questions, just stupid answers), but I'm going to ask it anyway. Since
this stuff is an anti-inflammatory, should I start Taffy in on it right
now; should I use aspirin to get the swelling down first and then start
her in on it; or should I go ahead and use both?

Thanks,

Tori
