Saddle woes

I have an ABetta western saddle that has started giving my horse dry spots
behind her withers. Having read so many good things about the sports
saddles, I tried a friend's barrel racing sport saddle and, although I noted
several improvements, when I got off and removed the saddle the same dry
spots were staring me in the face. How can this be? I thought it had a
flexible tree-type arrangement. Did it simply not fit or does my horse have
permanent damage in that area so she doesn't sweat? Saddles are a huge
source of frustration for me with my barrel shaped Arab. I've been through 3
dressage saddles and this cheap ABetta-which I had really liked. An
old-timer western saddle guy, suggested the ABetta endurance but the listing
says that it has semi-quarter bars, he told me they were full quarter. He,
along with my vet, say that sport saddles cause back problems and they break
alot. He says ortho-flexes have the same problems. It's hard to discount
him because he has been making, selling, and repairing saddles for forty
years but what I read here is completely different. Help!!! Please respond
through e-mail as my computer can't tolerate being on the list. I read the
archives. Thanks. GehringK@aol.com
