Last summer I had a spinal rub spot on my too-thin Peruvian mare.
I am a heavy rider and on a gaited horse I obviously don't get off
my butt and post. I was using an Equalizer pad with 3/4" inserts.
I switched to an Australian saddle for awhile, unfortunately the
particular specimen I have is only good for shorter rides.
Switched back to the Sports Saddle this spring and got 1" inserts.
The mare is lame for awhile so I'm riding the slightly rounder-backed
Peruvian gelding. We shall see...the thicker inserts FEEL better.
