Trish is right. It's pretty bad at the racetrack. Horrific, actually. As I
said elsewhere, I think the best prepared equine athletes are the
Olympic-level eventers. They're the ones whose exercise protocols seem to be
most closely attuned to the demands of the actual event. Flat racing
Quarterhorses are the worst prepared of all equine athletes, in my opinion.
Standardbreds (trotters and pacers) are reasonably well prepared while
Thoroughbreds are not. I don't yet know where endurance horses fit in--still
learning. It sounds to me that those of you who are serious about building
decent athletes are doing a good job.
