Well, that's what the exercise riders tell me when I tell them that there are
thousands of horses out there that can deliver 15 to 50 miles in a day and
not fall over dead. Everybody wants to isolate his discipline and proclaim it
different, entirely, than any other horse endeavor invented. I find a great
deal in common across the horse breeds and sports, including problems and
their causes. Meanwhile, I myself remain a student of my readers and a
student of the scientific literature--including human sportsmedicine
literature (of course, with the same kinds of catcalls: "horses aren't
humans", whenever I mention something humans do that horsefolk haven't
thought of yet.

The solution to the current disagreement between us will be a paper or two
that discuss the "matching angles" religion. It could be absolutely true.
I've just not seen the proof of it, practically, or in the literature. And
I've encountered a few horses that weren't racehorses.
