i have been interested in endurance riding for quite a while, but have not yet
been anywhere that i could get started. i now live in Jacksonville, Fl. but
will be moving to Tenn.- just outside of Knoxville - later this year, where i
will go back to college in hopes of becoming a vet.

i'm not even sure where to begin whith the questions, but here it goes. i
have a ten year old mustang, he's about 14 1/2 hands, and has never worn
shoes. since he's a mustang i'm assuming he'd have the makings of a good
endurance horse ( please correct me if i'm wrong ) even though he may be
somewhat slower since he isn't that tall. what makes a good endurance horse?
would i have to start shoeing my horse? is anyone aware of any endurance
groups around the Jacksonville area that i could get in touch with and perhaps
ride with? unfortunately Florida is flat so there isn't anywhere close for me
to do any riding on hills to build muscle that way.

Vicki Wheeler-since i'll be moving to Tenn. (Dandridge) maybe you can help me
out on that end. are there any endurance groups nearby? what about good
riding spots to train for endurance? you mentioned Biltmore, can you tell me
a little about them or how i can get information on them? any information you
can pass on concerning anything to do with riding around Knoxville would be
appreciated.
