Hi all!

Just a thought on getting people's comments on the rides, but what if
there were "comment cards" available at the completion of the ride? The
card would have options to check, such as weight class (lightweight,
heavyweight, featherweight), level (Jr, less than 250 miles, 250 to 500
miles, 500 to 1000 miles, 1000+ miles), date of ride, location of ride,
number of miles ridden, completed (Y/N), finishing place, trail
conditions, water crossings, bridge crossings, type of trail, etc. Plus
an area to write comments about ride management and a place to comment
about the actual ride. Name optional. (I know it might be touchy to
have ride management comments, but I think it will help differentiate
the management of a ride from the actual ride.)

By providing these cards for riders to comment, especially right after
the ride is finished, you'll get back pretty accurate information (for
those of us who tend to forget things two weeks down the road). Ride
management could distribute the cards upon ride completion and have a
box for the cards to be collected. It would be on a voluntary basis,
but I think if they're available, people will comment--especially if
they know it's going to help put together ride descriptions for the
internet.

I'd be willing to help with the word processing of the card and
developing a system to input those comments into a database of some kind
. . . if everyone thinks this is a good idea, I'll donate whatever time
I can to get it developed in a format that ride managers to use.

So what do you think?

Rita
