Since some one mentioned weather as a trail description,
I thought I've give you flatlanders a brief description of
what can be found in the Rocky Mountains during August.

It can rain, snow, hail, or be sunny, sometimes all at the
same time. When I go into the high country, I plan for all
weather conditions. You'll want to include rain gear - it
rains 90% of the days for about an hour (2-3pm). Depending
on the day, that rain may take the form of frozen stuff
(yes, even in August). The camp site may be 80 degrees during
the day, and freezing at night. You just don't know for sure.

There is usually plenty of horse water on the trails, but
NEVER DRINK THE WATER yourself. All the water you'll
find, streams and lakes is contaminated. You must boil
the water for 10 minutes, use a filter, or purification tablets
to make the water safe for people. You won't die from the
contamination, just wish that you did.

And take a camera. There are some of the most beautiful views
in the world up there. (And I've visited lots of countries.)
