I noticed that a couple of people have already said don't fix what isn't
broken due to the fact that your mare is maintaining weight. Remember to
include in your isn't broken list any bitting problems due to an
inability to close her mouth fully (dental problems often lead to this
but you obviously are aware of that since you have regular dental
workups for your horse) and how well she is grinding up her food. Check
out her poop to make sure there are no large chunks of hay or other food
in it caused by the inability to grind up the food finely. This may not
be a problem from the point of view of digesting enough energy to
maintain weight but it seems to me that it might pose a colic, choking
or other health threat one day.
