Dear Ms. Rietjens:

On behalf of the Board of Governors of the Western States Trail
Foundation thank you and Bill Wilson for a fine article in the Friday,
February 28, 1997 edition of the Auburn Sentinel about potential Federal
funding for the stabilization and repair of "No Hands Bridge". It is
hard to believe that since we were first notified of the closure of the
Bridge on February 27, 1996 that over 6,300 signatures and $50,000 +/-
in donations/pledges have been received from all over the world in an
effort to SAVE NO HANDS BRIDGE. The cooperation from the government and
especially Steven E. Anderson of the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation cannot
be over emphasized.

In order that the record be straight, please be sure recognition is also
given to the other concerned Foundations. Since the first meeting held
at the Granite Bay Activity Center on March 7th through this date, the
following have been 100% involved: Western States Endurance Run
Foundation, Drucilla Mason Barner Foundation, and the Wendell and Inez
Robie Foundation. The WSTF was only visible because we were the ones
designated to be the "point" with the flood of letters and
correspondence.

In addition to the Foundations mentioned above, thousands of people,
groups and firms have been responsible for prompting our government to
take well deserved action. In the near future we hope to compile a list
of all the "participants" in the effort to SAVE NO HANDS BRIDGE.

Thanks again for everyones support.

Sincerely,

Larry Suddjian, Vice President and Ride Director
