Tracy,
There's a product called 'Nature's Miracle', a natural enzyme
product that works pretty well. I have a cat who forgot what the
litterbox is for and started using the carpet instead. You soak the spot
and let the enzymes digest the bacteria that cause the nasty smell. You
can get it at most larger pet stores. Maybe they'll have a suggestion on
how to wash the pad with it? Good luck.
