Hi

I've been subscribing and posting to the list for a couple of months now
but I've never really introduced myself.

I live in Brisbane, Queensland on a 5 acre property but we also own 450
acres north of Brisbane near the Sunshine Coast. My daughter and her
boyfriend (an endurance rider and horse trainer) live there and look
after our collective 20+ Arabs and 150+ cattle. We have two stallions,
one Pure Polish and the other a Sala and Shafreyn grandson.

I've been doing endurance since 1984 starting in Sydney and then moving
to Brisbane. During this time I've managed to compete in 10 Shahzadas
(400klm), 7 Quiltys and 7 Far-A-Ways (320klm). My gelding Marengo
Busznin completed over 5,000 klms before I retired him to give the
youngsters a chance. My mare Kim-Dande Tara (known as "The Snake") has
done over 6,000 klms and although she is only 14 I will retire her this
year to put her in foal. Kelkette Park Silver Elite is coming up to
3,000 klms. We also have some promising youngsters coming along which
we will campaign this year.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the dreaded LIGHTWEIGHTS!! I have been
National Lightweight rider several times and last year Tara was the
National Lightweight horse. I was the Queensland Endurance Riders
Association (QERA) secretary for four years and the Australian Endurance
Riders Association (AERA) Treasurer and delegate for several years. I
was also stupid enough to be the 1994 Quilty secretary!

I also am qualified in equine sports massage and second degree Reiki
which works great in conjunction with massage.

Our season started last week at Kenilworth (Bruce Overton posted info
about it), and this weekend we are going to Warwick - south of Brisbane
for an 80klm ride. We are praying the weather will be cooler as it is
very hot and humid at the moment. Lots of riders here are already
starting to prepare their horses for the Quilty in June, however my next
ride after Warwick will be the Far-a-Way.

If anyone wants to know about anything downunder just ask!!

Regards

Anne
