Arnica can reduce pain by reducing the effects of muscle truama. It =
works as an anti-inflammatry, however, unlike more conventional =
anti-inflammatries it does not dehydrate the body. It works only on =
the affected area and does not reduce fluid throughout the body.

I have found it useful to use on horses after endurance rides as it =
helps the muscles recover from the stress placed on it. I also use it =
on the horses I apply deep tissue therapy (I am an Equine Sports =
Massage Therapist) because that method may actually cause bruising =
initially on horses.

Arnica is also useful to use on humans and in traditional alternative =
medicin it was used to relieve back pain. I use it on myself to help =
prevent bruising after injuries or when I stress my own muscles because =
of over use.

If used when there is no symptoms of muscle trauma or bruising it can =
actually cause the symptoms you are trying to prevent. The advice I =
offer is talk to your local homeopath or natural medical practitioner, =
as they have been taught in the applications and benifits of medicinal =
herbs
