Good for you, Kat. But, unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky. I, for
one, have difficulties stemming from polio as a child, and standing
and/or sitting, as well as long hours in the saddle, can cause quite a
bit of discomfort. I try not to take pain killers too often, but
sometimes they are necessary.

After a long ride (note, I don't say 'before' or 'during'), I will take
400 to 600 mg of ibuprofen with a full glass of water before retiring for
the night. Normally, I wake up without any soreness the next day. I
have never experienced kidney problems from ibuprofen.

If I followed your philosophy, I would have to give up most of the things
I love to do, because they cause pain. I'd rather live with the pain,
and control it as necessary, than live in a cocoon.
