a neat trick with reins (don't try this at home)

My horse does this neat trick with the reins, usually in the worst possible
situation. There we are trotting along and she throws her head to the side
(she does this a lot at home in the pasture) The reins are flipped over her
head. Now I am still holding the reins but instead of one on each side of her
head, they are both on the same side. With a flick of the wrist I can toss
the one back over her head, but now her wicked twin takes over. I can SEE the
gleam in her eye and she tosses it back. She will throw the rein over two or
three times, untill I could strangle her. She does this at a trot, or canter,
and one one memorable occasion at a gallop. Amazing the things these guys
come up with

This is really easy to fix! A running martingale will keep the
reins where they are suppoed to be. If you don't like or need
the action of a running martingale, just adjust it fairly long.
