I have two juniors, age 12 (boy) and girl (9). They, esp the boy, love the
shirts! He proudly wears them on Mondays after the ride! In fact, come to
think of it, it's been a long time since I've seen him in any other shirts!
His favorite ride award was a polar fleece jacket the ride manager had his
name printed on (thanks Janet Baldwin!). I think what is most important to
him is the "proof" to his friends that he really does this crazy stuff!
My daughter's favorite award was BEST MANAGED HORSE competing with all
riders at all distances. It is a certificate we had framed and hangs in
her room (thanks Robin Kurtz!)
One year I gave out cheap cameras to juniors. That was a hit. This year I
got some really neat Indian Bear charms to put on the browband of the horse
to prevent falls. I believe this will be my best junior award yet! I got
them from Karen Clanin on the net here! (thanks Karen!)
Surprisingly, neither of them like things for the horse like brushes. My
son won a halter for his horse that he really liked, though. Guess they
figure mom and dad will buy this stuff anyway :>

PLEASE ride managers, try to award all your juniors with something, even if
it's a $2 pocket knife! It means so much to them! I remeber a very
depressed boy coming home from a ride where they did not acknowledge juniors...
