Thanks Joe..
I was NOT going to hit this one..but Joe said it all here.
I was a member and BOD of ECTRA when we passed the helmet LAW..
We did it to MAINLY to protect the BOD and RIDE MANAGERS from a law suit.

Yes we do expect someday for someone to get killed or end up a quad.. to sue
the ride and the org.. you will loose because you as an org and/ or ride
manager knew or should have known that riding is dangerours and riding
without a helmet can result in this situation.

ECTRA is the ONLY CTR org to require helmets. I am glad I was part of that
movement. It may save a rider's life someday..

Trail rides are normally a 'private' event the rules of the road are not
open ...the managers and OC set the rules .. and are Liable dont like
them dont play.
AT our rides we ran in PA both ECTRA and AERC ..we ADDED a helmet requirement
..no helmet no ride .. we did it before ECTRA passed the rule
we filled rides no problems..
Note the OD 100 requires them also..
I KNEW a few no-helmet riders.. they are dead bashed heads
