Hey ridecampers, this isn't the only place where petty bickering goes
on. Has anyone heard about the AHR vs. WAHO spat? Well effective Feb.
1st WAHO (World Arabian Horse Organization, aka the "Arabs", has
suspended the Arabian Horse Registry from their exclusive little club.
It seems as though WAHO is miffed because AHR will not accept their
definition of breed purity. Basically, if you don't accept WAHO's rules,
you don't get to play with them
But alas, AHR is standing their ground, saying that WAHO's definition
of breed purity is less than pure (horse listed in the WAHO stud book
are know to have cross breeding with non-Arabians).
This really won't affect us here, unless you import semen from a WAHO
horse and then try to register the resulting foal with AHR, and vice
versa. This may also affect people who are exporting horses for sale to
the Middle East, as WAHO may not accept the importation of horses or
semen from a suspended member registry.
Hmmmm.
