I know it's a bit of a drive, but if you have time to go on Canadian holiday
and take in a ride or two at the same time this summer, go to some of the
rides put on by BC Competitive Trail Riders. The rides are in 3 levels of
distance and speed. There is good vet control, and placing is based on
P&R's and vet checks done at surprise locations along the trail (usually
just at the top of a steep hil, or after a flat, open piece of trail that
invites a good gallop) and on the post-ride vet exam. The vets are
outstanding and most of the ride managers do their best to put on a really
good ride. You do have to plan ahead to have health papers and Coggins for
the border crossing, but the overall high quality of the Canadian rides is
worth the bit of extra bother.

I have spare stall and paddock for any endurance/CTR folk traveling to
Canada via Spokane, Washington.

Happy Trails,
