Years ago when we bought our first new, 2 horse, trailer it had the regular
pine floor boards. After 1 year they were rotted. Jim replaced them with
rough cut (i.e. a full 2" thick) redwood that he planed down along the edges
to fit into the metal grooves/slots. Coated the board before insertion
several times with creosote and painted them well with paint. We had that
trailer for 20 years and never had to replace that floor again. Worked for us.

You might also ask David to pull the trailer around a bit with you in the
back, maybe something is going on back there on turns that you are not aware of?
