There was a girl at our barn years ago that was in a car wreck and
because of the severe damage to her spine was told to sell her horse and
be grateful she could walk. She didn't sell the horse, she worked her
fanny off in physical therapy for two and a half years to get to the
point that she could climb onto her horse's back and ride at a slow walk
for perhaps two or three miles before she was exhausted and had to stop.
Also included was designing a special saddle and back supports and
someone alongside to help if she got into trouble.

No flames to anyone, I truly admire those who ride and complete ANY
endurance distance, but if anyone on earth deserved the big award for
working hard to achieve the best level you are personally capable of, it
was this girl for riding three miles at a walk.

Just my .02.
