My wife tells me we have to keep the geldings and the mare in separate
pastures so I have to put in some additional fensing. Why is this? and is it
necessary?<<<

Geldings, although are no longer stallions, still try to boss mares and
demonant mares can be quite nasty to some geldings and their approaches.
After all, RHEY don't know who's been castrated. Some mares and geldings
get along just great..depends on the individuals..Try it one way and if it
doesn't work and you get too many bite and kick marks to tolerate..you may
have to separate them...
