I am no expert, but we did have some interesting discussions back in December
I believe..look on the archives and maybe you'll find it. But, from what I
remember from the posts and from my own reading and personal knowledge,
rabdomyelitis (sp?) is not always the same as tying up..at least not with our
endurance horses. There seems to be a great many different circumstances
which lead to tying up in our horses. I have NEVER had a problem with a MARE
(or anything else either) except feed related..i.e. over graining or sudden
introduction of alfalfa when none had been fed.

Tom Ivers book "The Fit RacehorseII" addresses this problem in TB, QH and SB
horses..much of which relates to what we do in endurance.
