I innocently and follishly used to think that "endurance" referred
to going out and riding your horse all day long. Now after a few years
of packing trailers and trying to find the magic combination of getting
a horse conditioned and arriving at camp Ready To Ride, I have finally
realized that the "endurance" part of endurance riding refers to the
work you have to put in between rides and immediately prior to and after
rides. Actually going out and riding 25 or 50 or more miles is just the
REWARD for having gotten that far and THAT part has nothing to do with
"endurance"!!! :-)))
