Something I don't think I've seen mentioned..dark SKIN vs. light SKIN.
Arabains have dark SKIN except where there are white markings..a grey horse
have dark skin EXCEPT where the horse has/had white. Dark skin is notably
tougher. My horses only get "scratches" or "mud fever" where there is light
skin. I don't know or have long forgotten the reasons why the dark skin
evolved as "better" in the desert..but this was evidently tue..perhaps
because light skin gets sunburned whereas dark skin does not.
