>> Again, please excuse my ignorance on this subject but are these races in
these middle east countries governed by FEI? standards. I do seem to
recall
seeing that the United Arab Emerates brought a team to Kansas for the World
Cup so that country must be familar with organized endurance riding . Are
these the same horses that are racing in the big money races in Saudia
Arabia. Also, is there a world wide organization that oversees these races
like AERC does here? What happens to these horses after they race in these
races - do they come back to the USA and compete here or is there a middle
east racing circuit (like a show circuit)

I am ignorant, too..What I say here is heresay from people who have heard it
from others..you know the old telephone game... FEI governs world and Nat'l
endurance competitions..if they chose to use them.As far as I know, UAE does
not use FEI standards at all...these horses are run flat out for 25 miles
with one check (VERY minimal) for big money like $200,000.00. Their attitude
towards a horse differs greatly from our personal love and appreciation..to
them the horses are expendable like motor cycles. If they die, they can buy
another. Some in the USA have sold horses to them, some have leased them. I
suppose like anything else, the price and terms are set between the two
parties..there does not seem to be any kind of "rule"
