Thanks to all on the adoption question

I received so many helpful replies that it would be best to extend a
"blanket thank you" to everyone who offered advice, contact persons, or
experience with adopting greyhounds.

In summary, it appears that a greyhound would not be a good choice as I have
three *very active* cats in my house. As "sighthounds", they would probably
find it hard to resist distractions like bunnies on trail. And as they are
bred for sprinting, it might not be fair to expect one to rise to "endurance
standards".

Everyone agrees that they are wonderful dogs and in the right circumstances
would be superb pets.

However, I will have to consider other breeds--as I am a big fan of large
working breeds that inevitably leads me back to Newfis (and wouldn't you
know, there's an ad in our local paper, 3 puppies available!). Other
options might include Aussies, Labs, and Sir Mutt.

Will let you all know the final decision.

Again--many thanks for all the replies--I really appreciated the help.
