     Donna, You might get a vet look at your horse and get him/her to do a 
     lameness exam and nerve blocks to localize the cause of going short. 
     While it is most likely that the horse is simply sore adapting to 
     incresed bone strain associated with his new sport and has mild bucked 
     shins etc, it is possible that he has a true foot problem that needs 
     to be dealt with by therapeutic shoeing eg heel soreness, navicular 
     syndrome, pedal osteitis etc.
