length of rides and time

in response to the e-mail below - the WEG was won in 9:32 for 100 miles
and i would expect that one to be pretty accurately measured. it is true
though that lots of rides are just approximate. i have seen 90 mile
75s and 55-60 mile 50s before. and a 40-45 mile 50 as well.

Additionally, I will be so bold as to suggest that the 100 mile ride that
was finished in 9 hours was finished so quickly not because the horses
were going faster but that the ride wasn't really 100 miles long. But
this is just my opinion.
