We have found that teaching a hrose of any age to neck rein is incredibly
easy and quick, when the horse has already been well-trained to the leg aids.
I am not a pro trainer; but EVERY one of our horses who already had good
response to the legs was a quick study on the neck rein. This was probably
the easiest "fundamental" to teach - the neck rein. In just a few days we had
our youngster as well as several older and previously unbroke mares working
first off of our legs and then WALA! beautiful neck rein work!
