Bits & Farriers

Hello Everyone,

This is my first message for the list. I need some information that I
have not been able to find in books or by asking around.
What is the difference in bits, lets say between an egg-butt snaffle
and a D-ring snaffle. I know what a snaffle is and does, but what about
the shape of the rings. Why would one use a full-cheek snaffle vs. a
loose ring? Do any of these affect the carriage of the head? Does anyone
notice a difference in their horse when using different metals in the
mouthpeice? (stainless Vs. copper etc...)
I need to teach a horse to neckrein because I want to eventually ride
in a Vosal. Any tips in training to neckrein?
In regards to farriers: How do I know what training a farrier has? Some
schools have intense training some have basic training? If I need
corrective work done, how do I know the person is REALLY qualified?
I don't know any person who has had corrective work done on their horses
hoofs and just because the shoer does a great job on a persons horse, he
could totally screw up my horses feet. I've heard too many horror
stories that resulted in lame horses. The fact that this horse needs
some corrective work done (re-shaping the hoof) I don't want to trust
just anyone. Any Comments?

Lauren
