I think the more experienced riders may have already done this. At an
endurance clinic a couple years back the speaker made a statement that
several years ago different parts of the country were using different
feeding regiments. The West coast riders were feeding fat, the riders in
the East were feeding a high carbo diet and the riders in the midwest and
mountains were feeding a high protein diet. She went on to say that almost
everyone knew that protein was not the answer, but at that time there was
not evidence to indicate high carbos were better or worse than high fat.
She went on to say that performance wise and safety wise the high fat diet
"proved" better than the high carbo diet and today most riders (nationwide)
use fat to supplement energy in the diets.

So it may be that there is alot of information out there about this subject.
