Cash Awards/AERC

I received a reply today from an AERC Regional Director in response to the
letter I wrote to AERC voicing my opinions on cash awards and endurance
racing.

In the letter I received, I was told that the BOD is at this time, only
voting on whether the request for the Cosequin Challenge ride can have
approval to limit entries to horses that have a minimum of 500 lifetime
miles of which 200 must be one-day 100s. At this time, that is the only
issue they are voting on.

In addition, I am told that the issue of prize money must be dealt with in
some other way, namely enough input from AERC members in opposition to it to
cause a board member to make a motion to the effect of disallowing cash
prizes.

btw, this director also mentioned that she objects to the infusion of cash
awards into the sport of endurance riding.

So if you have an opinion, WRITE TO YOUR AERC REGIONAL DIRECTOR...or the
AERC office...let AERC know how you feel, if enough members feel strongly
enough about an issue to write letters then maybe they will listen and maybe
we can have some control over the future of the sport.

Happy Trails!!
