The casper park ride held last weekend near San Juan Capistrano, CA
was fantastic. The park was beautiful and the vistas awesome. A bit
of mud but my horse liked it! Paul thanks for my best ride so far.
Next year? YES! In fact it was sooooo good we missed the awards
ceramony. Now you ask how can that happen? Well there were two
camping areas. One where ride management and the independent campers
camped and the other 10 minutes away that provided stalls, tables,
grills, and fire rings. A fire ring was our downfall. We started a
cowboy campfire. The word we had was the ceramony started at 8:00 pm.
And so as time passed and our stories were told about the day we
simply didn't notice the DIMR sneaking up on us, or was it by now the
indian campfire that held us there? We didn't even notice everyone
else was gone. When we came to our senses and went to check at what
time... It was all over. Stunned and speechless we wondered how
this came to be. Four somewhat experienced riders missed enjoying
that part of the ride. Latter one of us Tammy Mooney was presented
with BC LD novice blanket (she was thrilled-she'll buy the horse
now!). Another one of us Debbie Stanfield was awarded the turtle
award-last to finish in time on the LD! I was told my horse was
mentioned in the well conditioned group. Well anyhow what a ride!
The single track trail was a blast. Thanks to the Hackworths for
allowing me to tail you through that section. Many thanks to the
Orange County Distance Riders. Next year-it will get easier Paul!

you may discover his 2nd great talent
