High fat diet prevents tying up?

I just got the latest issue of 'The Horse' and there is a short descriptive
article in there about research being done with horses that have tied up.The
person doing the studies is manipulating the diet to see if this has an
effect. So far the results seem to show that some horses have a hard time
using a high carbohydrate diet for energy and that a high fat diet prevented
these horses from tying up. Have not read the complete study so I don't have
the particulars. -Amy
