conditioning cycles

I've got the first 17 pages written of an article concerning Rob Lyden's
(Nike guy) theories on conditioning cycles. It's real interesting and
something that is probably missing from my books. One thing he says is that
the more intense the exercise, the more frequent the necessary "beneficial
breaks" of a week of nonstressful work. He's suggesting a mesocycle of a hard
week, a moderate week and a light week once you get into "race training".
During background mileage, three "hard" weeks and one light week.

I know that Tina mentioned something about cycles, and now that I'm
fascinated with the concept, would like to hear about others--and yous again,
Tina. Rob's megacycles go from year to year, riding the "waves of
supercompensation". Says two peaks in a year is about all any athlete can
properly prepare for.I think his concepts will apply to horses.
