Depends on the horse, you might try taking regular samples of the manure
and feeding a series of psyllium doses when you see sand in the manure.
I'd worry a bit about feeding psyllium every day only because I have seen
horses who got surgical impactions from the psyllium balling up in the
gut. The vet who did the surgery had been treating the horse for sand
colic and ended up having to remove a huge glob of psyllium from the
intestine.

We buy bulk psyllium from our vet. The price is less than what I pay at
the feed store. Do stay away from the pelleted psyllium products. Not
only are they more expensive but they are more likely to ball up and
themselves cause an obstruction.
