Hay there Charlene,

I have the same problem, but I never considered it a problem, I just figured
that it was time for a trim and new shoes.

I have found the same to be ture of your observations about shoeing time and
I adjust my schedule according to the hoof growth.

I pull shai's shoes in november and i don't have to have the farrier come
until feburary then i have him trim her feet and she stays barefoot until
april. she gets shoes in april and when they start to grow over the edge of
the shoes i call the farrier, which is usally mid to the end of may, then we
can go about 4 weeks because its warm out and the hoofs grow faster when it
is warmer out, then we are on a 4 week schedule til september and then i can
go about 6 weeks.

the farrier says the hoofs grow over the shoes and so fast because of all
the stomping they do when the flies are bothering them and the heat. It
makes sense to me.

Any way I have shai's shoes done according to the way they grow not how long
she has had the shoes on. And I have never lost a shoe, so I guess the
farrier does a good job.

I will probably have to adjust my shoeing shedule this year because I want
to really do some miles so we can do a couple of rides this next year :-)

If you're gonna ride...ride hard or stay home.

Happy Trails

Bobbi & Shai
