Sore Back

I agree that it's quite possible your TB has something
structural going on. I have read 2 articles in Equus and/
or Horse and Rider regarding spinal / pelvis problems.
One was a short note that mentioned when UC Davis
studies all of the fatal breakdowns from CA tracks, they
find a lot of stress fractures in the vertibrae and pelvis
that no one previously knew about. The horses gave no sign.
The breakdown was not related. There was a horse that
died when it's pelvis broke during a race a couple months
back, but this is rather rare.

The other was a "this happened to me" story where a lady had
a horse with a sore back whose 2 vertibrae actually rubbed
causing the pain. Surgery fixed the problem by filing down
the processes that were rubbing. If all else has been ruled
out, and especially if you have an off-the-track TB, you
might want to consider looking at the bones.

I have an off the track TB whose done a 30 and a couple 50's.
One of the things I really love about this horse is his work
ethic. He puts his mind on the trail and gets it done.

ps... welcome to the list, Mr. Ivers. You'll be happy to know
your name still comes up occationally on the Derby list.
There are still a few folks out there who appreciate what
you have to say.
