Roger,
Can you tell me about this heartbelt thing?
Do you just leave the electrodes where they are on the belt, remove
the
transmitter, and put on the saddle, and then at checks, remove the saddle
and
put the trans. in the belt pocket?????

OUR V-MAX Heartbelt is for use WITHOUT the saddle. We use it in the vet check
and after the race to just keep an eye on them..

The system consists of a wide 4inch elastic belt with velcro ends. A
repairable transmitter is placed in a small pocket 'on the outside of the
belt, two short 6inch leads with our thin electrodes attach to velcro pads on
the 'inside' of the belt, the leads snap into the transmitter

Without a crew: I carry it in a pouch on the saddle- its about 4 inch all
rolled up, keep one lead disconnected to turn off the transmitter( it will
cause interference with the saddle mounted unit.
Arrive at the check, drop the saddle- horse find water grass hay (op's) :>)
30 sec here, get belt out of pouch unroll throw over horse pull arond and
velcro tight.. 30 secs
so i get the hr back in about a min, reads on my watch.

(since I route my saddle mounted tranmitter long lead down the RIGHT side of
the horse it does not get tangled up in the girth. Some riders sew loops
around the lead to attache it to the girth. If you use neoprene you can rout
the lead down the inside of the tube-girth and cut a small hole at the eldow,
pass the pin through the hole and connect to the electrode..use velcro
strap...)

CREW ala GOLD TEAM hehehe
person 1 with Hbelt on left side drops girth and breast collar, readies Hbelt
person 2 on right side lifts off saddle and thows it over to person 3 (me)
who better get it out of the area..fast
person 1 thows belt over to 2 who passes it under horse back to 1 who secures
it
person 1 calls out HR numbers within 30 seconds after the wild young blond
rider yells to let her know what the HR is..horse has not stopped walking
yet..horse reads 58 or so...

takes about 30 seconds .. with lots of practice... and incentive from Larry.

a little snip from weg action

It is not a difficult tool to use.. sure beats keeping the saddle on. I had
no problem at the OD (50) this year without a crew. Dropped saddle at all
checks.
Dont see much use for this at NATRC ctr.. since most of the time my horse is
about a 50 or 48 when we get to the check.. I just leave the saddle on for
about 2 min, then off it comes.. She normally goes to 44 sometimes 48 in the
10 min period..
The Hbelt is only really usefull for end races to enter into the check
faster.
