This is an excellent point because I see it happen frequently in TB racing.
The horse with superior acquisition gets muscle-fit very quickly and is raced
early. Unfortunately, the structural components always lag behind the
muscuular, especially with the minimalist conditioning point of view of the
TB trainers. Thus, every kind of injury known to mankind results--we cripple
the best of our horses the soonest. What really aggravates me is that some
well-known veterinarians encourage this, saying that these special horses
need almost no conditioning at all. Raving idiots! (Strong letter to follow).
